EA GROUP CHECKS OUT

At the outset a unique contractual arrangement called the T5 Agreement was implemented. Through this BAA took on all the risk for the 4.3 billion pound project enabling suppliers and contractors to work in fully integrated teams to deliver the projects milestones on time and on budget.

A thorough selection process took place before the BAA team awarded the EA Group with the CCTV and Card Access Install Contract. According to EA, winning the contract was down to gaining knowledge and a thorough understanding of every aspect of the Install and Commissioning requirements.

Asked why they had selected EA, Rob Garrad, Terminal 5 Systems’ Security Manager pointed to EA’s commercial offering and technical capability stating that ‘their in depth responses and attention to detail made them stand out from their competitors’.

Throughout the project EA Group management and employees were fully committed to the partnership principle, contributing to the design implementation and making valuable suggestions regarding the installation process. “The EA Team have proven that they can deliver to tight deadlines with appropriate levels of skills and expertise required by the T5 Leadership Team.

They’ve also been confident to challenge the T5 Management Team regarding resourcing and planning and in most instances have actually saved rather than increased costs” said Rob Garrad.

Commenting on the partnership and technical skills of EA throughout the construction of
Phase 1, Rob Garrad went on to say “the knowledge and technical capabilities of (EA’s) engineers greatly complements the T5 Security Team’s delivery capability. Throughout they’ve worked successfully with Designers and the Production Team, agreeing methods of implementation and demonstrating their willingness to contribute to the success of a major project.” Rob Garrad praised EA’s professional approach by concluding “The Group’s performance has exceeded our expectations and thanks to them T5 is looking to close out the delivery as close to programme
as is practicable.”

EA Group has hailed the BAA T5 Agreement a resounding success in maintaining the time scales and deliverables of this vast contract by uniting teams under the single banner of Terminal 5. Reflecting on the completion of Phase 1, EA Group’s Managing Director, Robert Munday said, “Once again, our proactive and positive management spirit proved a crucial element which prevailed from start to finish. We acknowledge the contribution made by our entire on site team”.

CAMBRIDGE CITY COUNCIL COMMEND EA-GROUP FOR A PROFESSIONAL, FAST AND EFFICIENT INSTALLATION

The EA Group car parking installation team have again performed an outstanding task by replacing an entire car park revenue system overnight.

As the last of the evening rush of traffic left the Park Street Car Park in Cambridge city centre on a warm July evening, the EA team moved in and began the task of replacing every piece of a competitors equipment with the latest Amano system by the following morning when the commuters and shoppers returned.

With the Amano system up and running by 05:30am the team were ahead of schedule and ready to start accepting the days parking public!

"It was again an outstanding achievement from the team" commented Steve Gardiner, Operations Manager and for that night Team Coordinator. He added "There was the usual positive spirit that from all of our engineers, but we all worked well with the Cambridge City Council staff too which makes the long night and ongoing operation more pleasurable".

Robert Munday, EA-Group Managing Director was clearly delighted and commented "that all of the planning, with our engineers and at the technical facility here at Bookham has again proved that we remain the number one car park equipment supplier and installer in the UK".

Robert continued "As a company we have always expected the highest level of commitment from all of our engineers, however metaphorically speaking, each time 'the bar is raised' our engineers exceed themselves and prove they are the best in the business".

Two days after the installation, Robert Munday was delighted to receive a letter of commendation from Mr. Paul Necus, Head of Parking Services at Cambridge City Council, naming all of the engineers individually and expressing his personal thanks to the entire team for their professional, fast and efficient installation of their new Amano car park revenue system.

Caught on Camera - Heathrow T5's CCTV network reaches big milestone

"Completing this work on time marks a major step towards delivery of one of the worlds largest common network CCTV Systems"

Another major milestone to report on with London Heathrow Airport T5 core CCTV system that's being delivered, bang on target.

The milestone was achieved on 7th March 2007. Achieving this on time enables the ntl: Telewest Security and the EA Group Teams to connect more than 1500 cameras that will be used at T5.

It also means that the teams are on track to have the connections in place by Operations Readiness day 17th September 2007 - and from there, integration to the HAL CCTV System.

Rob Garrad, Design & Commissioning manager said:

I am very proud and appreciative of the efforts made by everyone involved and commend the whole team whose outstanding efforts over recent months have made this another great success story for T5".

The next step is to reach 60% camera installation when the team will be able to commence "load testing" of the systems with software connectivity to the Building Systems Integration Common User "front end" displays for cause and effect validation.
