Biometric Architecture and Hardware

New products based on existing technology clearly cannot provide a satisfactory answer to the current Security Management requirements.

Nedap has chosen a fundamentally different approach. By combining years of experience with breakthrough technology, Nedap has developed AEOS®, a range of comprehensive security management solutions based on DWeb® Architecture.

Freedom in identification
AEOS solutions have been designed to integrate all forms of identification into a single security management system. Within the same system, Nedap hands-free technology for employees can be combined with bar-code badges, card technologies such as Mifare® or HID® and Nedap microwave identification technology.

Freedom in functionality
The behavior of a particular management system can be adapted to meet specific security needs. Thanks to the distributed intelligence within the system, tailored security procedures are easy to implement.

Freedom in installation
As AEOS management software can be accessed via a standard Internet browser, complex installation procedures for attaching additional workstations are a thing of the past. Based on open software standards, AEOS can make full use of the potential offered by the new generation of wireless handheld devices.

Freedom in user interface
The user interface can easily be adapted to match your corporate identity. This allows seamless integration with your corporate intranet - which, for example, can now be used to pre-announce visitors.

Freedom in performance
With AEOS you can choose an optimal balance between performance and cost. If additional AEPUs are added to the configuration, intelligent agents automatically distribute the new business logic over the system. This ensures optimal performance and reliability.

Freedom in configuration
If you have limited performance requirements, you will need only a small number of AEPUs. You can subsequently add more to the configuration to match changes in your performance requirements.

ControllerControllers
The AEOS controller is the distributed intelligence of the AEOS system. In this AEOS Processing Unit (AEpu), the user defines the desired local functionality by activating behaviour components. All authorisations for the connected readers are stored in the AEpu. Each AEpu can function as a stand-alone unit or can be connected to the IP network to communicate with other AEpus and IP-based devices in the network. This can be achieved without intervention of the AEOS server, with which the connected equipment also communicates by IP.

ReadersReaders
The AEOS Hands-free and Proximity Readers are designed for automatic detection and offer a greater degree of convenience and security than other current readers. The functionality of the AEOS readers can be easily configured using software components to match your specific requirements, now or in the future. The convenience of the AEOS readers promotes integration, acceptance and thereby security.

Power supplies
ReadersThe microprocessor-controlled AEOS power modules supply electricity to the connected AEOS modules and peripherals. Power modules are available in ‘smart' editions that keep supplying electricity even if the mains power supply fails. In addition, there is also a standard power supply, which is also suitable for use in an environment with 110V mains voltage and has no additional functionalityThe internal charger of the power supplies keeps the connected batteries charged and checks their status and performance continuously and accurately. In addition, the AEOS power supply monitors how much current the connected modules and peripherals are using, so that prior warning can be given of malfunctions.

Inputs & Outputs
The AEOS digital and analog input packs have been especially designed for the integration of digital sensors (such as contacts or intruder alarm) and analog sensors, for example temperature, pressure and humidity meters. Every AEOS relay output pack allows you to expand AEOS with 10 outputs for controlling external equipment (such as signalling devices, doors, lift and barriers) incorporated in the security management system. All are highly suitable for application in a comprehensive security system with a variety of components and functionality.
