EA Group can install speed lanes and other security solutions with a much quicker turnaround than others, just installed in Peterborough from UK stock:

Sky Betting & Gaming has taken on an additional 134,000 sq. ft. of office space covering seven floors at Wellington Place in Leeds.

The company, which is one of the biggest employers in the city, initially moved to the site in 2010. It already occupies numbers 2 and 6 Wellington Place and will now take on number 4, which is the latest phase of the 1.5m sq ft development

EA Group have received an order today for the security speed lanes which will be installed in early 2021. The image below gives an impression of the new modern facilities:

Canadian firm The Stars Group, which bought Sky Betting & Gaming in April 2018, will occupy office space over seven floors. Employees will have access to a south-facing roof terrace overlooking Tower Square, basement parking and secure cycle space, plus shower and changing facilities.

These come in addition to the existing community benefits including access to green space, an outdoor fitness centre and a diverse programme of community events and wellbeing initiatives.

“Today, SBG has over 1,300 people, spread over two separate buildings and six floors in Leeds. Our new offices at 4 Wellington Place will see one team working together in a specially designed modern building with fantastic community aspects on offer to our employees, including beekeeping, free fitness sessions and wellbeing initiatives. It’s a real cause to celebrate.”

Airports are amongst one of the most secure and safeguarded locations in most countries, after all, thousands of people pass through each airport every day. Due to this reason, it’s nearly impossible for just human intervention to guarantee the safety and protection of all passengers, which is why numerous security systems have been implemented.

With that being said, to give you a better understanding of the different security measures that airports have enforced, the talented team at the EA Group has created this guide on the most common types of security systems in all airports across the world.

Passenger pre-board screening

The first and most known security system that is utilised in airports includes passenger pre-board screening. This primarily involves passengers going through metal detection systems, as well as x-ray systems to check that passengers aren’t attempting to carry any undislocated or illegal items through into the airport.

It’s also likely that the cabin baggage screening process will be completed simultaneously when you are being screened. During this process, the passengers’ carry-on items will be checked through x-ray systems so that they can identify any items that aren’t permitted for air travel or to be taken through into the airside zone.

Hold baggage screening

Any luggage that is checked-in prior to going through to security will also need to be checked over within a process called hold-baggage screening. Similar to cabin baggage screening, all of the items that are checked-in be processed through an x-ray system, as well as being processed with computer tomography and explosive detection systems.

CCTV

CCTV systems are one of the most crucial security solutions regardless of the specific location in the airport, primarily because they can be installed to monitor every single movement happening. It’s often the case that all of these cameras will be closely monitored in a control center, where trained teams will be looking at these cameras around the clock to guarantee any suspicious behaviour is dealt with appropriately.

Fortunately, various commercial CCTV systems are becoming smarter in terms of autonomous recognition. Especially for airports, where numerous individuals look to go to in order to flee the country, smart CCTV systems are able to track, identify and alert the authorities if they are caught on the camera.

Passenger access control

Depending on their airport, it’s likely that they will also have implemented passenger access control systems in order to control where they can enter. A suitable example is for passengers’ boarding passes, where they will scan them on a speed gate or security turnstile in order to be granted access to the next zone within the airport.

Restricted area identity card

Especially in airports, there are several areas that are restricted from passengers, but they still need to be accessible to staff. Depending on the airport, it’s likely that they have installed heavy-duty security doors that require an identity card to open, though there are several other alternatives including security speed gates as mentioned above.

Security bollards

Not only do individuals need to be prevented access, so do vehicles. Many notable airports have road infrastructure close or running into the airport, but not all of these vehicles are permitted. Due to this, many airports have implemented security bollards which are designed to work with third-party applications including their ID passes so that relevant people can be granted access when needed.

Can these systems benefit your business?

Although this guide is based on the security systems used within an airport, there is no reason why most of these systems can’t be used for commercial businesses. Fortunately for those that are keen on finding out more, the EA Group is here to help.

Another great solution and installation by the EA Group. This was a turnkey solution for our client. Our works included our slim lanes, balustrade with cable containment.

Part of the brief was to gain access with either biometric fingerprint, NFC so staff could use their mobile devices to enter as well as proximity cards or fobs, and all connected to their active directory for ultimate control. Works were also carried outside of normal working hours at the clients’ request.

EA Group is very proud to have been the chosen company to provide the revolving door entrance and security speedlanes within the new  Watford Football Club VIP and hospitality suite.

Our UK manufactured doors are custom made in 1mm increments so a good fit is always possible to the facade opening.

Being UK manufactured they are also available more quickly than the rest of the market and offer good value for money and high quality.

EA Group was approached a few weeks ago by a client that had a potential security risk at their staff entrance. The old lane by others had failed and parts weren’t readily available by their previous supplier. A survey was carried out within 2 hours of the call out, a quote went out the same day and a replacement lane from our stock was installed within just a few days.

WHG Housing Association came to EA Group and required a solution to their fairly new but drafty building.

As we often see they have two pairs of draft lobbies that sit opposite each other and when open they let air conditioned air out and hot or cold air in, this is particularly noticeable in the winter as the cold enters and fills the atrium within.

We proposed that the lobbies could be altered to have a DDA door to each side, remove one pair of sliding doors internally and replace with UK manufactured all glass revolving doors. The outer set remain to offer an extra line of security out of hours.

Whilst on site we were shown another set of sliding doors that were operated with access control, these were priced with a much better solution of high glass speed lanes. to stop tailgating.

Another service we were able to offer were full renders to the client so they could envisage the changes. Below are just a few:

The WHG Walsall entrance before new revolving doors installed

A rendered impression of how the WHG Walsall building will look when complete, showing the new revolving doors

A rendered impression of the new entrance at the WHG Walsall building showing new revolving door installed

EA Group won this under competitive tender and we are pleased to say that not only did we show good value, we will be able to turn this around much faster than our competitors who import.

In one case we are a third of our competitor’s lead-time.

Usay Compare is the UK’s largest and fastest-growing Private Medical Insurance intermediary. Based near Cirencester in the picturesque Cotswold region, Usay Compare has an ever-growing staff of more than 120 including a team of over 55 fully-trained health insurance advisers.

EA Group were asked to survey and quote for a revolving door and turnstiles for a business unit opposite their existing premises which forms part of the companies expansion. They had recently received similar items on their current building (by others) and weren’t fully satisfied with either the quality of product, installation or communication.

An order was received last week. With only a five week lead-time from drawing approval we will be installing one of our Surrey manufactured all glass bespoke revolving doors complete with a night shutter for added security. Our turnstiles are held in stock and will be installed at the same time.

Sweeper-S Speed Lane

I proudly write to say we have just sold a number of EA Swing-S slim speed lanes to this client in Salford, Manchester. Talk Talk went to the market earlier this year and contacted a number of companies looking for minimalist lanes for the refurbishment of their Soapworks facility. Our slim speed lanes and pass gates were specified thereafter and will be installed on three floors. Works commence in early 2018
